Our skilled team of instructors brings diverse backgrounds and years of experience in outdoor survival and adventure training. Whether it’s mastering survival techniques or leading thrilling activities, they’re dedicated to providing expert guidance and ensuring you have an unforgettable experience in the rainforest.
Mohd Sofian Empatie – Lead Survival Instructor
Mohd Sofian Empatie, originally from the lush landscapes of Borneo, Sarawak, brings over two decades of military experience to the Rainforest Survival Camp. A former soldier with the elite Rejimen Komando, he served for 21 years, specializing in jungle warfare and operations.
With his extensive expertise in jungle survival, Mohd Sofian has not only trained Malaysian forces but has also worked with foreign military units, sharing his vast knowledge of survival in some of the world’s most challenging environments.
Now, he is dedicated to imparting these critical survival skills to the public. Mohd Sofian leads various wilderness survival programs, where participants benefit from his deep understanding of the rainforest, learning life-saving techniques in real-world conditions.
Capt (R) Idi Mazwan – Lead Navigation Instructor
Capt (R) Idi Mazwan, is a former Malaysian military officer who served for 12 years and retired with the rank of Captain.
After his military career, he worked as a Private Military Contractor (PMC) in Iraq for three years, specializing in security risk assessment, map reading, land navigation, convoy escort, reconnaissance, surveillance, and intelligence.
He also a Chairman and Chief Instructor of Map Reading Land Navigation Club (MapLand) and was officially conferred the title Council of Expert by OSIS for the Land Navigation module and using this channel to share his experiences.
Mohd Amirul Haqim Bin Ahmad Shafiei – Outdoor Adventure Specialist
Mohd Amirul Haqim Bin Ahmad Shafiei, from Selangor, is the founder of Ecotrac Adventure, a company dedicated to outdoor and adventure experiences. With over 9 years of experience in the outdoor recreation industry, Mohd Amirul has become an expert in high ropes activities, including rock climbing, waterfall abseiling, and other high-ropes challenges.
Since establishing Ecotrac Adventure in 2016, Amirul has introduced countless participants to the world of adventure, guiding first-timers through thrilling activities with a focus on safety and excitement.
Amirul is also a certified instructor under the Southeast Asia Climbing Federation (SEACF), making him qualified to train and certify participants who undertake rock climbing and abseiling courses—adding professional recognition to every program he leads.
